Russia urges calm after North Korea rocket launch

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia called for calm and restraint on Sunday after North Korea’s launch of a long-range rocket.

“We are checking whether this (launch) is not a violation of certain resolutions of the U.N. Security Council and call on all sides to refrain from actions that could lead to escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula,” a Foreign Ministry spokesman was quoted as saying by the RIA news agency.
