Kroger starts selling cholesterol-reducing milk

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Kroger Co., the largest U.S. grocery chain, said on Thursday that it would start selling a cholesterol reducing, fat-free milk in its stores this week.

The milk will be sold under the company’s Active Lifestyle brand and be priced on par with its regular milk products.

The new product contains CoroWise plant sterols and clinical studies have shown that plant sterols can help reduce “bad” cholesterol and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, Kroger said.
