Spot gold hits record at $1,477.96/oz, silver at 31-year high

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Spot gold rose to a record high of $1,477.96 an ounce on Friday, after the dollar index .DXY fell to its lowest since August 2008.

Spot silver hit a 31-year high of $42.41 an ounce, tracking strength in gold.
