Turkey's Erdogan says wants to work with U.S.-led coalition on Syria's Manbij

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan signaled in Moscow on Friday he was not giving up on his ambition to take a role in controlling the Syrian town of Manbij, telling Vladimir Putin he sought to work with a U.S.-led coalition there.

Turkey considers Manbij as part of the safe zone it wants to create on its borders to the exclusion of the Kurdish YPG militia, which it considers a hostile terrorist group. But YPG forces are believed to be now ensconced in Manbij and have the support of the United States.
