NEW YORK (Billboard) - Morrissey has postponed the release of his new album from September until early 2009, according to the British singer’s publicist.

No additional information was given about the date change for “Years of Refusal,” his debut release for Polydor Records,

The 12-track album was produced by Jerry Finn, who suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and remains hospitalized in Los Angeles. Finn produced Morrissey’s 2004 album “You are the Quarry.”

“Years of Refusal” is the follow-up to 2006’s Sanctuary Records release “Ringleader of the Tormentors,” which sold 98,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
