UK government says no timetable on Sky takeover

LONDON (Reuters) - The British government said on Thursday it did not have a timetable for approving News Corp’s (NWSA.O) controversial takeover of BSkyB BSY.L after the Financial Times reported it would be delayed until September.

More than 100,000 people have submitted a response to a consultation on the takeover and the newspaper said on its website this would mean it would be several weeks before the government department could give its final decision.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Media said they did not have a timetable for approving the deal and said the government minister would take as long as he needs to work through all the submissions.
