NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn has been named quarterbacks coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, the team said on Tuesday.

Zorn, 57, spent last season as quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens, serving as the mentor for third-year pro Joe Flacco. He was released by the team in January.

“As a former head coach with more than two decades of experience playing and coaching the quarterback position in the NFL, Jim has a tremendous working knowledge of the game, and he will play a big role in the continued development of our football team,” Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said on the team’s website (http://www.kcchiefs.com).

Zorn was an NFL quarterback for 11 years, the first nine spent with the Seattle Seahawks. He was the Redskins head coach for two seasons, ending in 2009.
