Nigeria militants declare oil war in delta

ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigeria’s most prominent militant group on Sunday declared an “oil war” in the restive Niger Delta after a major gunbattle with security forces.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said it has already destroyed flow stations and oil pipelines, including a Chevron-operated platform.

It was not immediately possible to independently verify MEND’s statement.
