SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Nintendo Co Ltd said on Thursday it sold 714,000 units of its Wii video game console in the United States in April.

Nintendo, which competes with Microsoft Corp and Sony Corp in the video game market, also said it sold more than 1.1 million copies of its “Mario Kart Wii” video game in the U.S. in April.

Nintendo was citing data from market research group NPD, which is set to release detailed monthly video game sales data later on Thursday.
