Obama hopes to name Commerce secretary soon: W.House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama hopes to announce his choice to lead the Commerce Department in the next few days, a White House spokesman said on Friday, declining to comment on speculation Republican Senator Judd Gregg may be named.

“I’m not going to get into the name game,” spokesman Robert Gibbs told a briefing when asked if Gregg was being considered, adding that Obama hoped to name his choice to lead the Commerce Department soon but had not finalized a decision.

Gregg, of New Hampshire, confirmed on Friday that Obama may nominate him as U.S. commerce secretary.
