OMAHA (Reuters) - The gunman who shot a man in the Creighton University Medical Center lobby was caught within minutes — because police were already there on another shooting, officials said on Thursday.
Wednesday’s hospital shooting was the latest in a four-day outbreak of disparate violent incidents in Omaha in which 12 people were shot, killing three.
A number of law enforcement officers were already at the hospital Wednesday because a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy wounded in an earlier shooting had been taken there for treatment.
Police identified the suspect in the Medical Center shooting, caught within minutes after running from the hospital, as Anthony D. Green Jr., 26, of Omaha.
The victim, Otis Holford, 30, of Omaha, was wounded in the cheek. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
