Abbas: Israel must end all settlement activity

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday called on Israel to end all settlement activity and to totally remove its embargo on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

“We call on the Israeli government to move forward with its commitment to end all settlement activities and completely lift the embargo over the Gaza Strip,” Abbas said at the start of U.S.-brokered direct talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
