WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Homelite pressure washer surface cleaner attachments sold exclusively at Home Depot have been voluntarily recalled for laceration hazards, the American and Canadian governments said on Thursday.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a joint statement with Health Canada that about 40,000 of the attachments in the United States and 1,200 in Canada can break at the nozzle and potentially strike a consumer.

Homelite has received nine reports of such incidents including one laceration injury and three reports of minor property damage, according to the statement.

The recall includes orange and red drum-shaped surface cleaner attachments sold with Homelite pressure washer models HL80833 and HL80835 and separately as Powercare model AP31022A and EZ Clean model AEZ231022.

The products were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide between February 2010 and June 2011 for about $70 when sold as an attachment, or included with a pressure washer sold for about $450.

Consumers should stop using the products and contact Homelite to receive a free replacement surface cleaner attachment, the CPSC said.
