Gas blast kills three in Norilsk Nickel mine

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A methane gas explosion on Friday ripped through an Arctic mine run by Russian miner Norilsk Nickel, killing three people and injuring several others, the company said in a statement.

All workers were evacuated from the Zapolyarnaya mine. “All necessary rescue work is being carried out, the cause of the incident is being established,” Norilsk said.
