WARSAW (Reuters) - Russia’s final report on the April 10 plane crash that killed Polish President Lech Kaczynski and 95 others is one-sided and absolutely unacceptable, a lawyer for families of the victims said on Wednesday.
Russian aviation officials told a news conference in Moscow the Polish pilots’ decision to land in bad weather caused the crash and said their fear that Kaczynski would get angry if they aborted the landing contributed to the disaster.
“I am shocked by the report ... it is an absolute scandal and is not in line with reality,” lawyer Rafal Rogalski told Reuters in the first Polish reaction. Rogalski represents a number of families including Kaczynski’s twin brother Jaroslaw.
“It is absolutely unacceptable. In the matter of the investigation, the families want the truth... not the presentation of just one side without considering arguments which lie also on the Russian side.”
