South Korea says global uncertainties, unemployment weigh on economy

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea’s finance ministry on Friday said deepening trade tensions and a feeble job market are weighing on the economy.

The ministry said in its monthly assessment that expected U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate hikes and soaring oil prices were also downside risks.

Amid global uncertainties, robust exports, driven by sales of petroleum goods, steel products and memory chips, have shored up the economy, it added.
