Spain's Catalonia forbidden to hold independence referendum: government

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria said on Thursday the northeastern region of Catalonia can not hold a referendum on possible independence before it consults with the rest of the country.
