Steelers-Jets game is ratings juggernaut

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The Steelers-Jets game was the highest-rated AFC Championship game in metered markets in 24 years.

Sunday’s matchup, in which the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets 24 to 19, earned an average household rating of 31.3. It peaked at a 33.1 from 9:00-9:30 p.m. EST.

It was up 32 percent from a comparable late-game window in 2009, when the Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens (23.8).

It came in 10 percent higher from last year’s early-game broadcast AFC championship between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets (28.4).

The last AFC championship game to rate higher was the Cleveland-Denver face-off with a 31.9 in 1987.
