Swedish fiscal watchdog sees stronger public finances as tax receipts rise

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Sweden’s fiscal watchdog said on Wednesday it expected public sector finances to be stronger this year and next than in its previous forecast thanks to strong economic growth and higher tax revenues.

The Swedish National Financial Management Authority (ESV) said it expected a surplus of 1.2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2017 and a surplus of 0.9 percent 2018.

In its latest forecast, in June, ESV saw a surplus of 0.9 percent and a surplus of 0.8 percent respectively.
