Japan’s Naomi Osaka regained the WTA world No. 1 ranking Monday following her quarterfinal run at last week’s Rogers Cup in Toronto.

The reigning U.S. Open and Australian Open champion took the top spot back from Australia’s Ashleigh Barty, whose round-of-32 loss in Canada dropped her back to No. 2.

Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic is No. 3, with Simona Halep of Romania and Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands rounding out the top five.

Rogers Cup champion Bianca Andreescu, 19, vaulted from 27th to 14th after becoming the first Canadian woman to win the event in 50 years.

Serena Williams, who withdrew from Sunday’s Rogers Cup final with a back injury, climbed two spots to No. 8.
