MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico’s economy minister said on Monday that the country should be exempt from proposed U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum as the latest round of talks to modernize the North American Free Trade Agreement draws to a close.

Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo wrote in a post on Twitter that the tariffs are “the wrong way to incentivize the creation of a new & modern #NAFTA.”
