ANKARA (Reuters) - Conducting another election in Istanbul would eliminate doubts over the March 31 results, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Tuesday, hours after the ruling AK Party said it would appeal for a re-run of the city’s local vote.
Initial results from the election showed the main opposition earn a narrow victory over President Tayyip Erdogan’s AK Party (AKP) in Istanbul. Earlier, an AKP official said the party will demand a new vote in the city over irregularities that directly affected the outcome.
