"Lycans" director to take on "The Colony"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Special-effects veteran Patrick Tatopoulos is in negotiations to direct “The Colony,” an eco-horror tale that marks the follow-up to his 2009 feature debut “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.”

The project revolves around a group of survivors forced underground by the next ice age. There, they must fight to preserve humanity against a savage threat.

Shooting begins in the fall. Summit Entertainment is co-financing the film and will distribute in the U.S.

Tatopoulos also is attached to direct “I, Frankenstein,” which is in development at Lakeshore Entertainment. He also is responsible for the creature designs in such films as “I Am Legend,” “I, Robot” and the first two “Underworld” films.
