Obama, Congress leaders start U.S. budget meeting

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama has begun a meeting with congressional leaders at the White House to discuss ways to avoid a government shutdown at the end of this week, according to congressional aides.

The meeting, with House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is aimed at reaching a quick deal on government spending for the rest of the fiscal year, which ends on September 30.
