WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Congressional leaders aim to present a deficit reduction package to lawmakers by Monday and want to show progress on a deal before Asian financial markets open for business, a Republican aide said on Saturday.
“There are no deadlines tonight. The White House has requested to be kept up to speed on our progress, and we’ll ensure they are. Congressional leaders are working in good faith with the goal of having something to present to their members on Monday,” the aide said.
