HONOLULU (Reuters) - The U.S. economy can handle further gradual interest-rate hikes, San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams told reporters in Honolulu on Wednesday, adding that the global stock market swoon earlier this week had not changed his outlook fundamentally.

“The economy clearly can handle gradually rising interest rates,” Williams said. “I’m not really worried about the downside risks of the economy slowing too much.”
