Federal judge rules Oklahoma ban on gay marriage unconstitutional

(Reuters) - A federal judge overturned Oklahoma’s ban on same-sex marriage on Tuesday, finding that a state constitutional amendment excluded gay couples without a legally sufficient justification.

The ruling, which would make same-sex marriage legal in Oklahoma, has been put on hold pending the resolution of an appeal of a nearly identical case in Utah, U.S. District Court Judge Terence Kern said.
