Republicans pledged immigration debate next week: top Senate Democrat

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday that Senate Republicans have promised to hold an open debate on immigration legislation on the Senate floor next week.

“In our meetings today, (Republican) leader (Mitch) McConnell pledged that we would have an open process next week, after this week,” Schumer told reporters.
