OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada plans to recognize Juan Guaido, head of Venezuela’s opposition, as the country’s new interim president, a Canadian government official said on Wednesday.
The official, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, gave no further details. Minutes earlier the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump had announced a similar move.
