Costa Rica president says recognizes Guaido as Venezuelan leader

SAN JOSE (Reuters) - Costa Rica recognizes opposition leader Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela, President Carlos Alvarado said on Wednesday.

The recognition Costa Rica was the second from a Central American nation, after Guatemala. It came within hours of Guaido swearing himself in as the South American country’s president and followed recognition by the United States, Canada and several other Latin American nations.
