U.S. 5-year TIPS sold at highest yield since 2009

NEW YORK, Aug 23 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury Department on Thursday sold $14 billion of five-year Treasury Inflation Protected Securities at a yield of 0.724 percent, the highest yield since October 2009, Treasury data showed.

The ratio of bids to the amount offered was 2.78, up from 2.55 at the prior five-year TIPS auction in April. (Reporting by Richard Leong Editing by Susan Thomas)
