Senate committee advances nomination of Trump nominee Quarles to Fed board

WASHINGTON, Sept 7 (Reuters) - A pair of President Donald Trump’s nominees to head key regulatory efforts advanced Thursday, and now await confirmation by the full U.S. Senate.

The Senate Banking Committee approved the nominations of Randal Quarles to serve as the Federal Reserve’s vice chairman for supervision and Joseph Otting to serve as the Comptroller of the Currency.

If confirmed by the full Senate, Quarles would lead regulatory efforts at the Fed, and has expressed interest in easing rules put in place following the financial crisis. (Reporting by Pete Schroeder; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
