Ex-Willkie Farr co-chair pleads guilty in college admissions scandal

The former co-chairman of the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher on Tuesday pleaded guilty to participating in what prosecutors call the largest college admissions scam uncovered in U.S. history.

Gordon Caplan, 53, pleaded guilty in Boston federal court to a conspiracy charge related to his decision to pay $75,000 to have someone secretly correct his daughter’s answers on the ACT college entrance exam to obtain an artificially high score.
