Columbia refuses to bargain with union for student assistants

Columbia University will not bargain with a United Auto Workers affiliate that represents teaching and research assistants, the university’s provost John Coatsworth announced on Tuesday.

Coatsworth said the university will seek review of the National Labor Relations Board’s decision allowing student assistants to unionize from a federal appeals court.
