U.S. banking regulators seek comment on "CAMELS" bank rating system

WASHINGTON, Oct 18 (Reuters) - U.S. banking regulators on Friday said they were seeking public comment on the use of the so-called “CAMELS” rating system used to assess the health of the nation’s banks.

The Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said they were seeking input on the consistency of the ratings, and how they were used when assessing enforcement actions and bank applications for branches and other business issues.
