Fed's Powell: Financial conditions have tightened more traditional measures suggest

March 22 (Reuters) - Financial conditions have tightened as a result of the recent collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and likely more than what traditional measures indicate, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said on Wednesday.

The question for the Fed in determining where next to take monetary policy will be the extent and duration of that tightening, Powell said in response to a question at his news conference following the central bank’s policy decision on interest rates.
