US gasoline price jumps to $3.96/gal in latest wk-EIA

WASHINGTON, May 2 (Reuters) - U.S. retail gasoline prices hit $3.96 a gallon, rising 8.4 cents in the latest week, the Energy Department said on Monday.

The average price of regular gasoline was $1.07 higher than it was a year earlier, as unrest in the Middle East and a weak dollar have boosted the price of crude oil. (Reporting by Ayesha Rascoe)
