EXPLAINER: ABA to vote on encouraging legal service regulatory changes

The American Bar Association is set to vote on a resolution that would encourage states to consider regulatory changes that could increase low and middle-income Americans’ access to quality, affordable legal services.

Some lawyers have criticized the proposal, expressing concerns that it could lead states to change regulations in a way that would compromise lawyers’ independence.
