Ex-Big Law atty asks judge to toss his conviction in cryptocurrency case

A former Big Law attorney who was convicted for his role in an alleged multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme involving the sale of a fraudulent cryptocurrency by OneCoin Ltd, has asked a Manhattan federal judge to toss his conviction or grant him a retrial.

Counsel for Mark Scott of Coral Gables, Florida, told U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos in a filing on Tuesday that the evidence in federal prosecutors’ case against him was “insufficient” to support his November conviction of conspiracy to commit money laundering and bank fraud.
