WASHINGTON, June 9 (Reuters) - The U.S. government on Thursday said it had reached an air-quality deal with Anadarko Petroleum Corp’s (APC.N) Kerr-McGee unit to advance the company’s Greater Natural Buttes Area natural gas project in Utah.
The project could produce more than 6 trillion cubic feet of gas over 10 years.
The project, which would include up to 3,675 new gas wells, was proposed in 2006 but has been delayed in part over concerns about its impact on air quality.
The Interior Department and the Environmental Protection Agency worked with the company in the last few months to develop a plan to reduce the project’s air pollution. (Reporting by Tom Doggett; Editing by Dale Hudson)
