UPDATE 1-Vale Inco strikes deal with Manitoba nickel union

(Adds details)

TORONTO, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Vale Inco VALE5.SA VALE5.SA has reached a tentative contract deal with unionized workers at its Thompson, Manitoba, nickel operations, the United Steelworkers union said on Friday.

The USW said details of the agreement, which covers 1,286 workers, would not be released until workers have a chance to review them.

Voting should take place over the weekend, and results should be known late Monday, it said. The previous contract was due to expire next week.

Vale Inco’s Thompson operations consist of three mines, a mill, a smelter and a refinery, which yields about 130 million pounds of pure nickel each year
