UK cable firm Virgin Media to shut sites; cut 500 jobs

May 3 (Reuters) - Cable company Virgin Media, owned by Liberty Global, said on Thursday it would close four of its eight customer service sites resulting in about 500 job losses.

Virgin Media, which employs around 14,000 people in the UK, said it planned to spend 40 million pounds($54.4 million) on increasing capacity at its existing centres and buying alternative sites.
