Virgin Blue sees U.S. alliance approval by end Aug

MELBOURNE, June 8 (Reuters) - Budget airline Virgin Blue VBA.AX said on Tuesday it expects to get U.S. regulator approvals for its alliance with Delta Air Lines Inc DAL.N by the end of August.

New Chief Executive John Borghetti told a stockbroking conference that Virgin Blue already had the necessary approvals from Australian regulators.

Virgin Blue slashed its guidance May 28 on rapidly falling demand and a sudden decline in consumer confidence, sending its shares down by a quarter and highlighting the industry’s fragility.
