Greek air traffic control strike to ground flights

ATHENS (Reuters) - Hundreds of flights to and from Greece will be grounded Wednesday during rolling strikes by air traffic controllers, their union said in a statement.

Air traffic controllers will hold four separate three-hour stoppages throughout the day starting from 4 a.m. (2 a.m. British time) and ending at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday during the final shift, the Air Traffic Association of Greece said.

Earlier this week, the union said it would go ahead with a 24-hour strike as part of national stoppages by the country’s public sector umbrella union (ADEDY), but Greek courts ruled that action illegal.

Other ADEDY employees will walk off the job for three hours Wednesday, protesting government policies.
