28/8/2018 – UnaBiz, a startup focused on Internet of Things (IoT) networks is raising more than US$10 million in a Series A funding round co-led by decentralized energy firm ENGIE and Japanese telecommunications firm KDDI.

Henri Bong, the CEO and Co-founder of UnaBiz attributed the successful close of the Series A funding round to the team’s efforts.

“The success of this fundraising series is the fruition of the tireless efforts of the entire team, and with it UnaBiz will enter a new stage of growth,” Henri Bong said.

KDDI invested in UnaBiz through its SORACOM IoT Fund Program, run by its subsidiary SORACOM Inc, a multi-standard IoT platform operating in over 120 countries.

Besides these two lead investors, the funding round was also participated by Japanese venture capital firm Global Brain through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (KOIF3) and Taiwanese security management giant Shin Kong Security, a subsidiary of the Shin Kong Group.

Founded in 2016, UnaBiz operates low-power-wide-area network (LPWAN) provider Sigfox in Singapore and Taiwan. The startup provides Sigfox connectivity in both countries and sells IoT solutions from around the world enabled by its network.

The startup had deployed two national networks and built an ecosystem of over 200 partners across Asia and brought our IoT solutions to over 25 countries.

With the new funds and partnerships, UnaBiz will further develop and enhance their IoT applications in terms of their connectivity, end-to-end solutions, and engineering services.

Collaborations will also be forged with its partners to deliver solutions in key industry verticals such as aerospace, facilities management, food and beverage, logistics, supply chain, and smart cities.

Ken Tamagawa, the CEO and co-founder of SORACOM Inc commented on the deal saying that said the joint efforts will “accelerate the buildout of an even stronger international IoT ecosystem to develop new solutions for our customers.”
