Global startup pitch competition, Startup World Cup is now open for application as it begins its search for the next emerging unicorn.

Startup World Cup is a global conference and competition that brings together the top startups, VCs, entrepreneurs, and world-class tech CEOs.

The event partners with some of the world’s largest conferences and tech events to hold 15 regional startup competitions across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

It involves a series of pitches, with a US$1 million investment prize, in an effort to identify top entrepreneurial talent in 11 international markets.

Startups from around the world can participate and compete for a US$1 million investment prize, as well as leverage on strategic synergies and partnerships from San Jose-based Fenox VC networks.

The event will also see prominent speakers sharing their startup experiences, with past speakers including Guy Kawasaki, the Chief Evangelist at Canva; Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, and Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and the GP of Initialized Capital.

In the World Cup 2017 series. Japanese startup UniFa won the trophy after beating over thousands other startups from 15 regional events. Second place went to Untied Kingdom-based Open Bionics United Kingdom, followed by Indonesia’s Ahlijasa.

For 2018, the competition is to be held on May 11 in San Francisco and expects to see more than 700 applicants from Southeast Asia.
