JSR Corp is engaged in the manufacture and sale of elastomer and resin products. The Company operates through four business segments. The Synthetic Resin segment is engaged in the manufacture and sale of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin for automotive and office automation (OA) equipment and amusement applications. The Digital Solutions segment manufactures and sells semiconductor materials, display materials, and edge computing related products. The Life Science segment provides diagnostic and research reagents and materials, bioprocess materials, drug discovery support services and others. The Company also purchases and sells chemicals.

Japanese chip and display materials maker JSR Corp said on Monday it will nominate a partner of activist investor ValueAct Capital to be an external board director, a rare move in the country where activists are still viewed with suspicion by many.
U.S. hedge fund ValueAct Capital has become a major shareholder in Japanese chip and display materials maker JSR Corp <4185.T> with more than a 7% stake, as activist investors are increasingly targeting cash-rich Japanese companies.
