Hitachi Metals Ltd is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the provision of special steel products, magnetic materials and power electronics, and electric wire materials. It has four business segments. Special Steel Products segment provides tool steel/roll products, including rolling rolls, injection molding machine parts, structural ceramic parts; industrial equipment and aircraft energy products, including aircraft and energy-related materials and automotive-related materials; electronic material products, including display-related materials. Raw Material Product segment provides automobile castings and equipment piping equipment. Magnetic Materials and Power Electronics segment provides rare earth magnets [NEOMAX], ferrite magnets, soft magnetic material and ceramic products. Main products of the Electric Wire Material segment are electric wires for equipment and industrial, electric parts for automobiles and brake hoses. It also engages in real estate and software business.

A consortium led by global private equity firm Bain Capital will buy all the shares of Hitachi Metals Ltd for 817 billion yen ($7.5 billion), Hitachi Ltd's metals subsidiary said on Wednesday.
