Energisa SA, formerly Sidepar Participacoes SA, is a Brazil-based holding company mainly involved in the energy sector. Through its subsidiaries, the Company is primarily engaged in the distribution and marketing of electric energy. It distributes energy for residential, industrial, commercial and rural consumption, among others. The Company operates in the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe and Paraiba. As of December 31, 2011, the Company's subsidiaries included Energisa Solucoes SA, which provides services related to generation and distribution of electric power; Energisa Servicos Aereos SA, which provides thermographic inspection services; Energisa Planejamento e Corretagem Seguros Ltda, involved in the insurance brokerage, and Energisa Geracao Rio Grande SA, which is involved in the hydroelectric power generation, among others. Brazil's power company Energisa SA withdrew its offer to buy a controlling stake of Eletropaulo Metropolitana, Brazil's largest power distribution company, according to a securities filing on Friday.
Brazilian electricity company Energisa <ENGI11.SA> said on Thursday its board has approved a bid to buy Eletropaulo, Brazil's largest power distribution company, for 19.38 reais per share.
Brazilian energy holding company Energisa SA met with the energy regulator ANEEL to discuss possible changes in the rules for the sale of six power distribution companies expected for May, according to documents seen by Reuters.
