First Solar, Inc is a provider of photovoltaic (PV) solar energy solutions. The Company designs, manufactures and sells PV solar modules with a thin-film semiconductor technology. It operates through two segments: modules and systems. The modules segment is involved in the design, manufacture, and sale of CdTe solar modules, which convert sunlight into electricity. The systems segment provides power plant solutions in certain markets, which include project development, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, and O&M services. Shares of FTC Solar Inc jumped as much as 19% in their Nasdaq debut on Wednesday, driven by rising investor interest in companies expected to benefit from U.S. President Joe Biden's green energy initiatives.
First Solar Inc said on Monday it agreed to pay $350 million to settle a long-running shareholder lawsuit accusing the solar panel maker of inflating its stock price by concealing design defects and reporting misleading financials over nearly four years.
